This black substance was found behind the applied wood paneling in place over the drywall, water heater was newly installed and this may be from the old unit in place that was leaking?
After proper lab test this black substance on the back side of the carpet base and drywall in a new born babys room turned out to be Stachybotrys Chartarum (atra): a mold that may be found in water damaged homes. Note: none of the mold was located until after further investigation that involved opening up of section of wall after removal of the carpet base, never know what is inside your wall when a leak is taking place?
